In the Moment
I am sitting in the chapel at St. Paul’s right now surrounded by 50 or so people. The visioneering team from California is presenting the concepts that they have devised over the past few days, and all I can say is that I am blown away!!! Maybe it’s because I am an artist, or maybe it’s just because I get fired up about the things that God is going here.
The designs for every little aspect of these buildings capture my heart. They speak to the majesty of Christ and the community of the believers without the overbearing attitude of a mega-church. One of the things that really is getting me excited is the huge variety of uses these facilities can provide for the community. Everything from farmers markets to baseball fields to outdoor amphitheaters to nature trails to cafe-like areas to potential art galleries, the possibilities are endless and I am convinced that when this comes to fruition, it could well be a central attraction of the community. It says, “We want to do this together; we want to live life together in a community centered on love.” Incredible. I have not been this excited about something in a long time- I almost want to go out there and start making some of those nature trails right now (since I am well accustomed to activities that don’t require money.)
The design for both campuses are beautiful. The “evangelistic design” has so much intentionality behind it that it is appalling. The potential is endless- and to think that this is merely the physical. It is only the face of what we believe and follow as people who live to reach out to the world around us. I could write for hours about this, but I will spare you- I only hope that Ben puts up some of the pictures up on the St. Paul’s blog for everyone to see. Even if you are not a member at St. Paul’s- there is plenty of reason to get excited about this as a local citizen. (The plans embrace the responsibilities of people to be as effeicient and “green” as possible! Awesome!)
Granted this is going to take some time, but c’mon, we’ll need the time to get ready for a God sized plan like this. I’m ready to go- and am fully on board in any way I can help- even if it is trail blazing.

Great post Nate. Thanks!
We will post the full pictures and presentation in a couple of weeks when we get the revisions back from Visioneers...
BTW, I couldn't agree more with all you said!
