Voter Guides?
A friend of mine from seminary put together a Voting Guide Resource for his church that they are distributing. He wanted to know what I think.
Here is the link if you want to check it out:

I think he id a nice job. The question for me is whether it is a good idea to distribute them in church. What do you think?
Let me know your thoughts....

Well those are remarkably neutral and well done in most ways - I've never seen good publications from a church about the election and it is frustrating. Generally we leave political discussions out of the church and there's no reason to ignore it and I think it's irresponsible to not exercise the right to vote. But the danger often is that one candidate seems to be the 'More Christian' choice and then those who support the other are somehow criticized and attacked (verbally) - that's just been my own experience.
I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving out something that encourages a church to vote and from what I read, this material seems useful in that way. It's great to see the facts lined up side by side.
Can I ask how you feel about it?

Thanks D for the comments.
I agree with you that this voter guide was very balanced and done particularly well.
I have very mixed feelings about them generally and never used them or distributed them in church. I think they tend to be pretty slanted in most cases and I figure the info is out there if people want it.
I am tired of the over-politicalization of the church that I tend to bend over backwards to avoid it... not sure if we get the right balance, though.
So those are some of my thoughts...
