Weekend Flashback
We had a pretty full weekend here at St. Paul's. Here are some highlights:
We hosted the satellite Willow Creek Association Small Groups Conference on Friday and Saturday. The conference itself was great. In fact I think every session was worthwhile! Highlights for me were Will Miller's session and Heather Zempel/Mark Batterson's session.
I thought our volunteers did an awesome job hosting the conference and it was great to be able to serve other churches and their teams.
My only disappointment was how few St. Paul's folks came out. This was really an outstanding conference and people missed out.
We will host it again next year, so mark your calendar's now for Oct 23-24, 2009.
Sunday was also great... part #2 in the series "Best Sex Ever".
We set-up the 9AM service differently this week, using only half the room. I think it made a big difference in terms of energy and the feel of the service.
Sunday was our 5th largest non-holiday Sunday ever (for those who notice such things, lol) and one of our best Sunday offerings ever too.
We can't keep our New Believer Kits in stock these days... I think that is awesome! Just a few weeks ago I made 25 new ones and they are almost all gone.
I thought Vince's message was great: funny, textual, practical, bold, encouraging, challenging, and pastoral!
At the 6PM service, instead of our normal discussion time, we spent time praying for married couples in our community and in our church. We also gave space for couples to pray together. It was really powerful to watch how the Holy Spirit moved. I really love the 6PM service these days.
The 4PM had more energy than it has a in a while... Vince had people laughing very hard!
I loved the closing song a the Jazz Service -- a jazzed version of "Love the Lord" by Lincoln Brewster.
I am looking forward to this coming Sunday... don't miss it!
