The Power of Generosity

Comments

  • Pretty amazing. But I know that things like this happen.

At the risk of sounding self serving, I would like to share something that happend this week.

Judy and I are definitely not in the class of folks who can be called financially well off. Our problems with our house are no secret and we struggle like most folks to make ends meet. But we trust that God will provide us the means to do his work.

Judy was invited once again to go to England and Scotland to use her talents to help share the Gospel and to teach others how to use creative arts to spread the good news.

After sharing her message and personal testimony at a church in Peterhead, Scotland, the congregation presented her with a love offering of 750 English Pounds Sterling. Quite A large and totally unexpected gift.

That same congregation sponsors a "Kids Club" that reaches out to middle schoolers in that town of about 11,000 that is situated on a rather remote location on the North Sea. It is a fishing town and the circumstances are ripe for an existing rampant drug trade.

Judy and I discussed the offering and how it would help pay off some of our debt or buy that flat screen TV we want. Instead we gave it to the Kid's Club and I know we will not miss it one bit.

As I said, I don't wish to sound self serving and even now I am hesitant to press the POST button. But I will and I ask for prayers that that donation will help a great ministry prosper.

  • I have shared this story with a few people at church but will post it here as a testimony to just what this video talks about. I am going to Panama with the Arts Team from SPCC this January and had been saving every spare penny I had for the trip since I found out about it. Being a college student it wasn't going to be easy to save up the money but I was determined to my share and knew that God would provide for this great cause. Just a couple months ago a faculty member from Eastern that goes to SPCC told me that he wanted to pay for the rest of my trip. He simply asked how much I had left to save and wrote me the check the next day. I am forever thankful to him and to Him for making this dream a reality.

  • What a great reminder that God goes far ahead of us. We have to go in the direction that God is leading and he will either pave the road or give us the strength to knock down the wall. Either if we listen and respond, so will he.
