Artist's Fast (10-28-08)
The Artists' Fast @ St. Paul's is a gathering of artists who feel called to get missional with their art—that is, to make art NOT for church but for sending out into all the world.
We will consider scripture, the wisdom of contemporary missional artists, and our own experience as seekers and believers who both make art and are moved by the words of Isaiah:
"Is not this the kind of fast I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from any who share this flesh and blood existence." (58:6-7)
As well, we will take time for a "solo" (for reflection and listening), so bring your journal and a writing tool, maybe even paper and charcoal or an instrument of choice.
Toward the end of our time together we will do a bit of sharing, and if it's the sense of the group, we'll plan for future Artists' Fasts @ St. Paul's.
