text: Reflections on 2 Samuel 12:1-22
2 SAMUEL 12:1-22
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2008
(First... my apologies. I posted today's reading and devotional yesterday by mistake. Sorry about that. Here is the reading and devotional that was scheduled for yesterday. Psalm 51 was scheduled for today... check out those posts that went up yesterday.)
Passages like this are hard to deal with. But they also--at least for me--strike a deep chord. They seem real, authentic, painful, and complicated... just like real life.
David's sin -- even when forgiven by God -- still has consequences. That is an important lesson to learn. While there is no sin outside the bounds of God's forgiveness--and no sinner outside the bounds of God's love -- there is still serious consequence to our sin. Evil begets evil. This is one of the universal laws of the world we live in.
This is a hard truth and one need to not pas by too quickly.
Where have you seen this at work in your own life?
What truth-tellers (like Nathan) has God used in your life?
Other thoughts?
