Project Eve

by Kim Mauger & Emily Cahill

As December is AIDS awareness month, we are reminded of all the worthwhile causes that need our ongoing support throughout the year. We recently learned about another notable outreach initiative called The Eve Project…and we need your support.

The Eve Project is an international campaign launched through Living Hope Ministries, the organization that I volunteered with during my time in South Africa. We are currently trying to garner support for the Eve Project through fundraisers, donations, and pledges of $10-$25 per month. We hope you'll consider partnering with us to raise awareness about this cause.

The Eve Project stems from the recognition that many South African girls do not have consistent access to adequate feminine hygiene products. Since families are often unable to afford these supplies, many young women do not attend school during their menstrual cycle. Due to this lack, the girls often miss up to five days each month, while some ultimately drop out of school. There is a great need for a consistent supply of products to be distributed throughout these communities. Donations made to the Eve Project will help to purchase feminine products, thus enabling these young women to attend school more regularly and obtain the education that is so crucial for their future. It's amazing how addressing feminine needs, something so simple, can change the lives and circumstances of countless young women- thus effecting long term change in local communities.

We are still in the process of brainstorming for local fundraisers- the money will be sent to the Living Hope office in Georgia- from there, it will be wired to Living Hope Ministries in South Africa. Further information about making monetary donations is available on the flier below.
