Advent Reading Reflections (11/29)
A PSALM FOR TODAY, A PSALM FOR US
“Because our worship never ends!”
We shout joyfully to the Lord
And come before Him with joyful singing
And present ourselves to God…as instruments of righteousness.
In church…and out of church
When we want to…and when we don’t
Instruments of righteousness…speaking blessing, declaring hope, inspiring joy
“Because our worship never ends!”
We know that the Lord Himself is God
It is He who has made us and not we ourselves
And we learn the parable of the fig tree.
We don’t know the day or the time…but we can recognize the signs
When we see the bud…we know God is working
His plans…and not ours, right at the door!
“Because our worship never ends!”
We enter His gates with thanksgiving
We give thanks to Him and bless His name
And stay alert…at the door, keeping watch.
Jesus said “I am the gate”…He is the way in to the presence of God
Jesus said “the master…commanded the doorkeeper to watch”
We are the doorkeepers…watching…who is ready to enter? Will I invite them in?
“Because our worship never ends!”
We know that the Lord is good…kind…faithful
And we know He has assigned each of us a task
…and we want Him to find us watching.
We know that God is good…even when things look pretty bad
We know that God is faithful…even when the waiting seems long
He assigned each of us a task…EACH OF US…and said, “Keep watch!”
“Because our worship never ends!”
