Gathering Retreat, Session #2: Principles & Practices

During session two, we explored our worship philosophy at St. Paul's. We've broken it down into 5 PRINCIPLES and 5 PRACTICES.

PRINCIPLES:

  • Our worship is Trinitarian & Christ-Centered "Him, Not I"

  • Revelation & Response "God initiates, we respond."

  • Corporate "We not me"

  • Whole Life "Our worship never ends..."

  • Worship is Formative "Everything teaches."

PRACTICES:

  • Our Worship is a Performance "An audience of One!"

  • Our Worship is Patterned We follow a 4-fold pattern in worship: Gathering, Word, Table, Sending

  • Our Worship is Plainly Intelligible This is what we mean by "seeker friendly"; we explain what we do in ways that are understandable and accessible.

  • Our Worship is Participatory A "win" is 100% participation

  • Our Worship is Purposeful We model and practice all 5 purposes at our Worship Gatherings.
