ABOUT WAIM:
Mission:WAIM is an association of faith communities that provides for basic human needs, for support to those in the Windham area, and develops and encourages programs that promote self-sufficiency.Description:The commitment of WAIM is the free redistribution of clothing, household goods and furniture to people who need them. Donors come from one of the 39 faith communities-at large, supplying us with items they no longer use. WAIM is a volunteer driven organization that serves about 7,500 people a year via basic services and special programs. We have expanded into the provision of energy assistance and administering funds to prevent homelessness.History:WAIM was born in 1984 out of a clothes closet in the basement of a local church with the original intention of redistributing clothing to our neighbors in need, from its first location in a convent on Maple Street in Willimantic. WAIM is governed by a Board of Delegates, with one clergy and one lay delegate from each of the 39 faith communities invited to participate. WAIM's financial base is via the United Way, the faith communities, individuals, institutions, corporations and foundations.Address:866 Main St , P O Box 221
